The National Museum in Wrocław occupies the building designed by architect Karl Friedrich Endell and erected in 1883 - 1886. It was established on 28 March 1947 as the State Museum in process of organization, on 11 July 1948 it was officially inaugurated to the public. From the 1 January 1950 it became a the central museum of the Silesia region, as the Silesian Museum. It was elevated to the rank of the National Museum on 21 November 1970. The Museum holdings encompass over 120 thousand objects, ranging from mediaeval stone and wood sculpture, paintings, drawings, prints and decorative arts, Silesian, Polish and foreign works of art.

Ethnographic Museum

The Ethnographic Museum has existed since 1948. It is a branch of the National Museum in Wroclaw. The museum exhibits folk culture of Lower Silesia (clothing, textiles, ceramic, material culture and folklore). It offers an educational programme for schools and public lectures.
Museum of Architecture

Poland`s only Museum of Architecture is located in a post-Bernardine complex dating from the 15th century which is composed of the St. Bernardine of Sienna's Church and a cloisters. One of the few preserved mediaeval buildings of this kind in Silesia it ranks among the most precious monuments of Wroclaw. The Museum of Architecture in Wroclaw is a founder-member of the International Federation of Architectural Museums (ICAM).
Post and Telecommunication Museum

The Post and Telecommunications Museum has existed since 1956. Its collection includes documents, photographs, items related to Polish Post, such as: stamps, uniforms, boxes, signboards, vehicles, telephon and telegraphs, radio and TV receivers.
The Brick Layers' Bastion
Formerly known as the Polish Hill. One of the reminders of the 18th city's century once impressive fortifications. From it's top opens a wonderful view Ostrów Tumski('Cathedral island'), the oldest part of the city.
Juliusz Slowacki's Monument
In 1981, the initiative of the Wrocław Society gave rise to the foundation of the Public Committee to commemorable Juliusz Slowacki. Consequently, the bronze sculpture by Waclaw Szymanowski (1901) was bought at Wroclaw's auction Mouse, to serve as a model for the monument executed by Wrocław artist Andrzej Łętowski. The monument was ceremonially unveiled in 1984.
Monument to the Victims of the Katyń Massacre
The monument consists of two oblong granite blocks symbolizing mass graves of Polish officers and policemen murdered by NKVD in 1940. Its central feature is the figure of the Angel of Death. In front of it, between symbolic graves, there is a figure of Katyń Pieta - mourning over a body of a murdered prisoner of war. On the granite walls of the graves, the names of the prisoner-of-war camps are inscribed: Kozelsk, Ostashkov, Starobelsk (south), and places of mass murders: Katyń, Mednoye, Kharkiv (north). The author of the monument is Tadeusz Tchórzewski, a sculptor and medalist from Warsaw. The monument was ceremonially unveiled on 22 October, 2000.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
- National Museum – The Panorama of the Battle of Racławice announces the 8th edition of the International Competition for Kościuszko Exlibris (Bookplate). The competition Rules and Registration Form are posted on the Internet (www.panoramaraclawicka.pl) in Polish and English version.
- The competition’s objective is to commemorate the 195 th anniversary of the death of General Tadeusz KOŚCIUSZKO (1746-1817) and the contribution of the hero of Europe and America to the cause of FREEDOM, INTEGRITY AND INDEPEDENCE through confirming patriotic traditions in the fine arts, especially the graphic arts, and particularly a bookplate (exlibris)
- The competition is public and open to all participants in Poland and abroad, professional artists as well as amateurs. Any number of works can be submitted irrespective of the technique and date of execution. Participation is voluntary and free of charge.
- The submitted works should contain the term “ex libris” (or a synonymous), the owner’s name, and they should refer to the competition’s topic, for example by referring to Kościuszko’s image, military accents and insurrectionist motifs.
- Each submitted bookplate (exlibris) should fit on the A6 sheet of paper (suggested dimensions 100 x 140 mm) but should not be glued onto paper, set in a passe-partout or otherwise mounted.
- The exlibris should be submitted in 5 identical copies (prints), signed in pencil on the obverse and described on the reverse (the author’s name and surname, technique, date of execution, number – opus and the individual print’s number).
- Variants and versions of a particular exlibris, if submitted in five identical copies, signed and described as indicated above will be considered a separate entry in the competition and judged independently.
- Submitted entries should be accompanied by a filled and signed Registration Form. The junior participants (below 18 years of age) should have their Registration Form confirmed by their respective school. The schools which have Tadeusz Koęciuszko as their patron are especially invited to encourage their students to participate.
- All submitted works with relevant rights, as well as Registration Forms will remain at the disposal of the Organisers of this competition with the possibility to exhibit and publish the works in any form and with no time limit.
- Agencja Ikonografii Ojczystej KOŚCIUSZKO will take care of all organisational matters related to the competition and juried exhibition.
- The works will be judged by the competition jury appointed by the National Museum in Wrocław. The jury’s decisions will be final. Works by junior participants will be evaluated separately.
- The National Museum in Wrocław will allocate the total amount of PLN 5000 or its equivalent in EUR for prizes that will be awarded by the jury.
- All participants will be informed of the jury’s decisions and receive the exhibition catalogue or folder, individual Certificate of Participation and other gifts from the Organisers and Sponsors.
- The works should be sent via registered mail by the deadline of 30.06.2012 to the following address: A.I.O. “KOŚCIUSZKO”, SKR. POCZT. -4, 50-984 WROCŁAW – 27, POLSKA.
- The juried exhibition will be presented at the Museum of The Panorama of the Battle of Racławice in Wrocław from September 2012.
